The Pike learns to Fail
A fast and aggressive fish called Pike was put into a tank filled with a small and delicious fish. Without hesitation, the pike started to hunt, BUT a transparent glass barrier had been placed in the middle of the tank by a research team. The scrumptious fish were still visible to the pike, but due to the glass barrier, they were unreachable.
An undeterred pike slammed into the glass repeatedly. It was painful, confusing, and ended with no tasty meal. Like in so many people, the pike stopped attacking because it learned to “GIVE UP.”
Then came a A TWIST. The glass barrier was removed, which gave all the fish full access to the whole tank.
But now, the pike didn't attacked, and the savory food swam freely. The pike had been conditioned by repeated failure to not try.
The Pike learned to believe
in FAILING.
The Take away:
Our lives are filled glass walls, through limitations, rejection, conflict, fear, or situations that did not go well. And just like the pike, a negative narrative quickly develops:
“It won’t work.”
"I am not that lucky"
“I just can’t”
So I ask you... Did the barrier's in YOUR life make you stop trying, because you were trained to believe you can’t?
Often THE limitation lies within ourselves, so break that glass barrier and go after that mouth-watering reward.
