I think I can, I think I can, I think I can
Recently a young man “talked out” a fantastic story. After a long time of being anxious, there was a break through. The young man who feared change and was riddled with negative self talk, decided to climb a mountain in order to set a personal record.
It was in the kitchen, at breakfast time, and he was all alone. The young man’s belly was empty, small frozen package were on his mind, and on THIS day he made it happen.
His brain was flooded with a childhood mantra, “I think I can”, while looking through the freezer. “I think I can” was with him as the pancakes were placed into the air cooker, and “I think I can” continued when he was full, sacrificed, and confident.
My friend would not be ready for a Waffle House or iHop, but this meal represented something much greater. By eating this delicious little frozen package, he faced one of his tallest mountains, and climbed over it.
Former Scottish national track and field coach, Frank Dick Bio, described what winning was by saying: “Winning is being better today than you were yesterday… Everyday.” He went on to say: “We can’t climb mountains by going around them, only over them. You become better at climbing mountains by climbing more mountains”. In other words confidence grows with every mountain climbed.
Frank’s take away:
“Seeking tough challenges makes you perform better. When you keep on going with that, one day you will be an one and only. But the truth is, you always was, is… and will be”
Enjoy climbing the mountains in your life… remembering “I think I can”.
