Fear and anxiety can be persuasive. They try to convince us to think awful and negative things about ourselves. Even without knowing the exact details of your situation, I know…. Those thoughts are lies!
This three step technique helps:
Notice
Name
Re-Frame
Here is a real life example:
“What if I fail this quiz, my grades won’t be perfect, I won’t be accepted into the perfect college, and then I won’t get the perfect job. (Almost in tears), I failed, I have failed everyone… I am a failure”.
Here is how the technique works:
Notice - this is a “what if” statement, and that is anxiety
Name - “the anxiety is lying to me”
Re-Frame - “I studied hard, I am a hard working person, and can handle this moment.
Life can be hard, fast, and full of worry. When we feel overwhelmed, our minds tell us stories that simply aren’t true.
The “Technique” of Notice, Name and Re-Frame helps us challenge those thoughts. Over time, it does ‘t just change how we think, but also builds confidence.
